In the form of the Dept. 10 Amped 3, Blackstar serve up a high-gain guitar pedal amp loaded with three channels, a built-in boost and a reverb effect. Unlike the Amped 2, the Amped 3 is mainly focussed on overdrive and distortion. The first channel is a dedicated clean channel with a lot of headroom for external effects, while the second channel delivers chunky crunch and Channel 3 piles it on some more. Every channel can be boosted as needed, but you also get the pick of two voicings as well as three different power amp responses per channel (EL34 for classic British sound; EL84 for full-and-compressed sound; and 6L6 for tight-and-dynamic sound).

The Amped 3: At Your Service Wherever Needed

This Dept. 10 Series offering from Blackstar can be deployed as needed, meaning the Amped 3 can be hooked up directly to a passive speaker cabinet with a standard speaker cable or connected directly to the PA system via the balanced XLR output. What’s more, recording is supported via USB as well as the XLR DI with CabRig: Blackstar’s simulation technology which gives you access to over 250 microphone and speaker simulations. Outfitted with an FX loop, MIDI and two 9V DC power ports for external effects pedals, the Amped 3 can of course also serve as the beating heart of your pedalboard. It’s fittingly compact and compatible with universal power supplies.
