Install the Boss GK-5B Electric Bass Guitar Divided Pickup and plug it directly into a compatible synth unit via a Serial GK formatTRS jack cable to completely flip and transform the sound. Besides turning your bass into a synthesizer, this setup opens up a completely new world of sound. The MIDI-pickup captures the vibration of the strings and translates it into MIDI data that, via a module like the Boss GM-800 Guitar Synthesizer pedal, can then be turned into the sound of a completely different instrument – like, any of the instruments found in the ZEN-Core Synthesis System.

The Boss GK-5B: Smaller, Easier & More Stable

This Boss-designed synthesizer pickup is compatible with four, five and six-string electric basses, and since this is the latest generation, is also a touch more durable than previous models. For a start, the redeveloped, more compact design is much easier to install, especially since the pickup comes including a neat mounting bracket and double-sided fastening tape. Meanwhile, the MIDI signal transfer is much more stable and the noise caused by interference has been pushed right down.
