General
This small but powerful synth sounds rich and full. The Tetra is the latest generation Dave Smith synth and has wide range of possibilities. It’s a four-voice polyphonic multi timbral analogue synth – a sort of mini Prophet – with four analogue jack outputs for four different sounds.
DSI Tetra/Tetr4: Mopho x 4
The Tetr4 is the same exact synth as the Mopho, times four. All parameters and controls are identical. This synth also reads sounds off the Mopho and the Prophet ’08. The Tetr4 is fully programmable and is equipped with four knobs which you can assign parameters to, enabling you to use it as a controller. The free editing software is compatible with both Mac and PC.
The audio outputs are mono, stereo or per voice. It’s also equipped with a headphone output. MIDI communication goes either via the in, out and thru, or USB. You can also daisy chain several Tetras, Mophos, or even Prophets for even more polyphonics!
As mentioned before, this synth houses the same engine as the Prophet ’08, but has been tweaked with an extra sub-octave generator for deeper bass and leads. It has two oscillators per voice, (sawtooth, triangle, saw/triangle, square with variable pulse width), two DCOs, a resonating low-pass filter, three envelope generators, four LFOs, a 16 x 14 analogue step sequencer per voice, and more. This is simply an amazing synth for any producer, and any style of music. Deep analogue bass, awesome leads, warm pads and futuristic effects, the Tetra has it all!
