General
The Fender BASS VI (3-tone Sunburst) is a highly exclusive guitar/bass guitar made in Japan. This rare Bass VI, also known as Fender VI or Fender Bass Guitar is a six-string bass with a shorter neck than a regular bass and a tuning that is a full octave lower than a guitar. It was originally produced between 1961 and 1975 and brings to mind the familiar Jaguar in many ways.
Quality of the BASS VI 3TS (MIJ)
The Japanese versions are rare reincarnations of this instrument and display – as we’re used to from MIJ Fenders – an incredible amount of true craftsmanship. Not just its finish is of high quality though, as it features a deep-sounding alder body fitted with JG Vintage pickups (Jaguar). These single-coil pickups are characterised by a very clear tone. Next to the bass-cut switch there are three more switches that allow you to turn each pickup on or off.
Fender Japan’s guitars and bass guitars
Japanese Fenders, in this case made by the Dyna Gakki factory, are high-end instruments that were never actually meant to travel abroad. These hand-built guitars were made for the Japanese market only yet are highly coveted all over the world for their combination of vintage design and extremely high quality. What’s more, the looks of these guitars head in the same direction as the American Vintage series, while the build quality rivals that of the professional American Standard models.
