Tim Armstrong (singer, guitarist and founder of the legendary punk band Rancid) has left his mark on yet another Fender signature model. The Fender Tim Armstrong Deluxe is a faithful reproduction of his old mahogany Fender guitar from the ’70s. A beautifully finished solid top acoustic western guitar, modified with a Fishman sound hole pickup. This guitar comes with a leather ‘Let’s Go’ guitar strap designed by Tim and a black Tolex case with orange plush interior. Naturally, this guitar brandishes Tim Armstrong’s signature on its headstock.
The wood of the Fender Tim Armstrong Deluxe
This steel-string acoustic guitar has a concert-type body made entirely out of mahogany. The Armstrong Deluxe has a maple neck and a 20-fret rosewood fretboard to add some perfect sparkling to the mahogany’s warm, dark sound. This guitar features a solid wooden top, that gives it a better resonance than a laminated top, contributing massively to a fuller sound with more volume and an excellent projection. The acoustics of this guitar are spot on. To protect the top from being scratched while playing, it has a marvellous 4-layer tortoise pickguard.
Fishman Neo-D Soundhole Pickup
Originally, this model was an acoustic guitar to which Tim added a Fishman Neo-D pickup. The Fishman Neo-D pickup is a soundhole pickup, that usually has a long jack cable affixed to it yet is now connected to a jack input for practical reasons. The jack input doubles as a strap pin for the accessory guitar strap. The Fishman Neo-D provides an exceptional balance between the strings and the clear, sparkling acoustic sound that is perfect for both stage and studio.
