General
The Starfire III is a big part of Guild’s heritage. First launched in the 1960s, this classic semi-acoustic guitar makes its long-awaited return in the form of a Newark St. Collection model complete with aluminium vibrato tailpiece, which doesn’t just look pretty but comes in handy during any tremolo arm action. To guarantee superb tuning stability, Guild have mounted a real bone nut as well as Sta-Tite Open-Gear tuners with an 18:1 ratio.
The Starfire III: The Sound of Mahogany & 2 LB-1 Humbuckers
Made of laminated mahogany and decked out in a high-gloss polyurethane finish, the body of this Starfire III reissue has been secured to a one-piece mahogany neck that comes topped with an ebony fretboard that has twenty narrow jumbo frets and a classic 9.5-inch radius. The vintage-style build is polished off with a set of LB-1 humbuckers – Guild-designed pickups that echo the sixties by framing sharp, forceful tone that can be tweaked to taste via dedicated volume and tone pots.
