General
In 2013, Noodles, guitarist of the ’90s punk rock band The Offspring, released a Signature model again. This striking, yellow Ibanez NDM3 is based on a rare Ibanez Talman TV-model from the nineties, just like the NDM2. It has a similar, striking body with single cutaway and a pointy horn yet the difference is that this third Noodles-model has been equipped with two P90-style single-coil pickups. As a result, it produces a bright sound with extra bite so that you can perfectly cut through the mix.Features of the Ibanez NDM3Like many Ibanez guitars, the body of the NDM3 is made of basswood, a light type of wood that gives a defined sound with an excellent balance between bass, middle and trebles. The neck is made of three pieces of maple for more strength and stability, has a Noodles Signature shape and is covered with a 22-fret, rosewood fretboard. The Ibanez NDM3 is equipped with a fixed bridge with string-thru-body, which means the strings run through the back of the body for more attack and sustain.Fat single-coil soundThe Ibanez NDM3 is armed with a set of P90-style ‘soapbar’ pickups which are actually single coils on steroids. They combine clarity, a sparkle and the bite of a single coil with the warmth, punch and output of a humbucker. In other words, the best of both worlds. With a 3-way switch you can choose between the bright sound of the bridge pickup, the deeper sounds of the neck pickup or a combination of the two for more ‘twang’. The Ibanez NDM3 also has a volume control and a tone control for filtering the higher frequencies.
