Description
General
A more affordable and upgraded iteration of the popular Albert Lee signature model, the Sterling by Music Man AL40P retains all of that tasty retro-modern style. A solid yet lightweight poplar body forms the base and comes loaded with two P90 pickups, setting off the fifties throwback body-shape and spooning out bright yet warm amplified sound – all in one shot. Vary the output via the three-way pickup switch and volume and tone pots, and throw in some sweet vibrato flair via the mounted two-point tremolo bridge.
The Sterling by Music Man Albert Lee AL40P: Pure Refinement
While it is the more attainable version, the Sterling by Music Man AL40P features a solid neck-to-body joint with five screws, completing a mega-stable foundation. The maple neck has also been roasted to reduce temperature and humidity sensitivity and comes coated in satin-gloss, giving the fret-hand an immediately snug and smooth feel. Add on the modern 12 inch fretboard radius and narrow 42 millimetre nut, and you get light and controlled playability all the way from the first to the twenty-second fret.
