Description
General
The Strymon EC-1 Single-Head dTape Echo Pedal gives you the throw-back sound of a tape echo machine from the sixties, complete with the harmonic warmth of a valve amp. Here, subtle mechanical imperfections give way to organic modulation, varying from warm slapback to wide echoes supported by stunning stereo imaging, while the carefully calibrated low-frequency response, rich tape saturation and bang-on echo decay turn this modern stompbox into everything that made valve-driven tape echo units so special.
Plenty of Options
As well as two valve preamp modes, the EC-1 offers artefact-free tap tempo and discrete stereo processing for independent left/right signals. Add that to the highly dynamic, high-impedance class-A JFET input, the built-in MIDI support, and the option to hook up an expression pedal, and you get an ultra-versatile tape echo effect fit for die-hard tone-chasers.
Authentic Sound, Modern Functionality
Based on the innovative algorithm pulled from the El Capistan and inspired by the classic Echoplex EP-2, this Strymon unit has been tweaked to deliver warm, balanced sound. Meanwhile, the built-in dTape technology guarantees you get every nuance of authentic tape echo sound – including tape ‘age’, mechanical imperfections and saturation – for fully nostalgic, fully refined results.
