The Yamaha Pacifica 112J II promises any ambitious beginner a running start. This electric guitar boasts an extremely solid build given its cost and has a flexible load-out in terms of electronics. In fact, the humbucker bridge pickup teams up with two single-coils to cover both vintage sounds and the bigger, richer sounds needed to back up loader playing styles. The Pacifica 112J II: Excellent Playability
Since the right wood goes a long way when building a great guitar, Yamaha haven’t skimped but have opted for a comfortable alder body combined with a bolt-on maple neck and a dark walnut fretboard. The result is a rich and tight foundation sound and a balanced mix of trebles, mids and basses. The neck also features a slim profile so will feel snug in the hands of most fresh-faced players, and this guitar even comes polished off with a vintage-style tremolo bridge for adding sweet and subtle vibratos. Meanwhile, six trusty machine heads keep the tuning from being thrown out of whack.
Versatile HSS Pickup Configuration
The Pacifica 112J II has an HSS pickup configuration which means it’s equipped with a humbucker in the bridge position, a single-coil pickup in the middle position and another single-coil in the neck position. Here, the humbucker shapes the thick and solid sound needed for styles like blues and rock, while the single-coils tighten things up a bit and provide the more subtle tone for styles that demand a clearer sound. As such, this ST-style Yamaha electric guitar supports a wide range of playing techniques and guitarists alike.
